Heather Houser

Heather Houser, Ph.D., is a Full Professor at the University of Antwerp since September 2025, with extensive experience in English literature and interdisciplinary studies. From August 2011 to August 2025, Houser served as the Mody C. Boatright Regents Professor and Professor of English at The University of Texas at Austin, where responsibilities included Director of Graduate Studies and Chair of Planet Texas 2050. Areas of research encompass late 20th- and 21st-century Anglophone fiction, environmental humanities, climate research, and the medical humanities. Houser has held various prestigious positions, including Associate Editor for Contemporary Literature, Mellon New Directions Fellow, and Visiting Research Fellow at notable institutions. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. and an MA from Stanford University, alongside a BA from Reed College.
