Job Title: Education and Research  Intern

Duration:  FullTime for 6 months

UBONGO is Africa's leading producer of kids' edutainment. As a non-profit social enterprise, we create fun, localised, and multi-platform educational content that helps kids learn, and leverage their learning to change their lives. Ubongo reaches over 27 million kids across Africa through accessible technologies like TV, radio, and mobile phones. Our shows Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me currently air in 23 countries across Africa in multiple languages. 

  1. POSITION OBJECTIVE (overall purpose of position)

Carrying out pre-research and curriculum research and development  for all Ubongo products.  

  • RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

Main Activities

Responsibility 1

Pre-research of Ubongo products

  • Contribute to development of research materials

Responsibility 2

Curriculum research and development

  • Mapping our content to different African countries' curricula on different platforms

  • Research and keeping a record of the different African countries’ curricula for our target audience’s age group

  • Assisting with curriculum design for our shows

Responsibility 3 

Reviewing content 

  • Review content (during production meetings or as point person) at all stages of production for educational values (script, storyboard, animatic, animation)

  • Prototype of content as needed

Company Wide Responsibilities 

  • Exemplify Ubongoers principles and norms

  1. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (Minimum knowledge, skills, and behaviors to perform the job)

Physical

  • Most of our activities with children involve movements like playing and standing up

Educational

  • A qualification in Education or Research

Experience

  • At least 6 months experience doing desk research and or  survey
  • At least 6 months experience of working with children

Skills 

  • Attention to details

  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili

  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Strong communication and outreach skills

  • Have a can-do attitude and readiness to learn on the job

  • Self-motivated and possess a high level of responsibility to complete tasks on time

  • Ability to work remotely

  • Experience using Asana, Slack, and Google Drive

  • Be willing to wear many hats
