Annmarie Baines

AnnMarie Baines is an accomplished educator and leader with extensive experience in public speaking, debate coaching, and educational program development. As the Founder and Executive Director of The Practice Space since 2017, AnnMarie has been instrumental in fostering communication skills. In addition, AnnMarie serves as a Public Speaking Lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, teaching undergraduates in the Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies. AnnMarie has a significant background in coaching high school debate teams at El Cerrito High School, leading them to success at various prestigious competitions. Previous positions include Program Officer at Lucas Education Research, where AnnMarie managed university research teams focused on 21st-century skills, and Assistant Professor of Secondary Education at San Francisco State University, specializing in adolescent development and inclusive education. AnnMarie earned a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Washington and has held various research and teaching roles throughout a distinguished career in education.
