Matei Zaharia

Matei Zaharia is the CTO and Cofounder of Databricks, a leading Data + AI platform used by enterprises globally, a position held since 2013. Currently serving as an Associate Professor of Computer Science at both the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University, Matei Zaharia has a rich academic and professional background in computer science, specializing in operating systems and networking. With experience as Vice President of Apache Spark and a Hadoop Committer at The Apache Software Foundation, Matei Zaharia has contributed significantly to open-source projects. Educational achievements include a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Mathematics in Honours Computer Science from the University of Waterloo. Previous roles include assistant professorships at MIT and Stanford, software engineering internships at Facebook and Google, and research assistantship focusing on peer-to-peer search algorithms at the University of Waterloo.
