Amber Flores is a PhD candidate in Plant Biology at the University of California, Davis, specializing in carotenoid biosynthesis and amino acid transport in lettuce under the guidance of Dr. Richard Michelmore. Since September 2018, Amber has held various roles, including being a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and a Business Development Fellow. Previous experience includes serving as an Innovator Fellow at Better Ventures and an intern at Ohalo Genetics, as well as working as a research assistant at UC Davis, where Amber focused on the effects of nutrient stress on tomato leaf vascular density and its implications for fruit yield and quality. Amber holds a BS in Plant Biology from UC Davis, earned in June 2017.
