Pengtao Xie

Pengtao Xie is an Associate Professor at UC San Diego, with a full-time appointment from July 2020 to June 2025. Prior to this role, Pengtao Xie served as an Associate Vice President at Petuum, Inc., where responsibilities included positions as Senior Director of Engineering and Director of Data Solutions and Service from January 2018 to June 2020. Earlier experiences include a research internship at Microsoft Research in May 2014, and a visiting student position at Carnegie Mellon University from May 2011 to February 2013. Pengtao Xie also completed a research internship at Microsoft Research Asia from August 2009 to June 2010. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University, obtained in January 2018, and a Master of Engineering in Computer Science from Tsinghua University, completed in January 2013.
