James Miller FRSE serves as a Board Trustee for UCAS and a Board Member of the Carnegie Trust for Universities in Scotland since November 2023. Currently, James holds the position of Principal and Vice-Chancellor at the University of the West of Scotland, alongside being a Trustee at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice. Previously, James was Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Glasgow Caledonian University and held multiple positions including Member of the British Council Digital Advisory Board and Lay Trustee for the British Geriatrics Society. James's extensive education includes a PhD from The University of Edinburgh focusing on nursing and patient safety, an MBA from Edinburgh Napier, and a B.Sc (Hons) in Nursing Studies from Dundee Institute of Technology. Additionally, James has completed an IEM in Leadership in Higher Education from Harvard University.
