Julian Whitelegge is a Professor at UCLA Medical Center and the NPI-Semel Institute, specializing in the application of biological mass spectrometry to explore structure/function relationships of integral membrane proteins and the implications of protein misfolding in neurodegenerative diseases, along with extensive work in peptidomics, lipidomics, and proteomics. With a career at UCLA beginning in 1991, Julian also held various academic positions and completed a brief tenure at Cornell University. Prior experience includes a Research Associate role at Royal Holloway, University of London, focusing on protein chemistry, and a Graduate Student position at Imperial College London, studying membrane protein phosphorylation. Julian earned a PhD in Physiology and Biochemistry from Imperial College London.
