Dr. Frank Filippelli

Dr. Frank Filippelli, DO PhD, currently serves as the Medical Director at UCS Healthcare, a role held since November 2010, where primary care and substance use disorder treatments are provided. Previously, Dr. Filippelli worked as a Physician at Newton Correctional Facility from July 2003 to January 2022, managing the medical care for 1,300 inmates. Additionally, Dr. Filippelli was the Medical Director at Prelude Behavioral Services from June 2011 to June 2018, focusing on inpatient substance abuse treatment. Dr. Filippelli also held an academic position as an Assistant Professor at Drake University from January 1987 to May 1995, teaching Medicinal Chemistry at the College of Pharmacy. Dr. Filippelli's extensive education includes residencies in Family Medicine at the University of Iowa and CR MEF, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University, and advanced degrees in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Iowa.
