Shay Strachan

Shay Strachan has a long and diverse work experience spanning multiple healthcare organizations. Shay began their career in 2002 as a Management Intern at Harris Health System. In 2003, they worked as a Performance Improvement & Patient Safety Resident at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota while simultaneously pursuing their graduate studies at the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management.

In 2005, they joined Catholic Healthcare West as a Strategy & Business Development Fellow. That same year, they also started working at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, where they held various roles, including Director of Strategy Business Development and Senior Director of Strategy & Business Operations. Shay also briefly served as the Director of Process Improvement - Lean in 2010 and 2011.

In 2012, Strachan joined Dignity Health as a Regional Director of Strategy & Business Development and later became the Senior Director of Mergers & Acquisitions, Enterprise-wide. Shay left the organization in 2015.

From 2015 to the present, Strachan has held various positions at UCSF Health. Shay started as the Executive Director of Strategy & Partnership Development before moving on to become Vice President of Strategy, Partnership & Network Development. Shay then became the Chief Strategy Officer of the UCSF Health Affiliate Network and Interim Chief Strategy Officer of UCSF Health. Presently, they hold the role of Chief Partnership & Growth Officer.

Shay Strachan holds a Master of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management, where they focused on Strategy, Operations, & Finance. They also completed the Center for Health Professions Change Agent Program at the University of California, San Francisco. Shay obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. They completed their high school education at Dulles High School. Additionally, Shay holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from SixSigma.us.
