A talented tennis player while growing up in Doha, Nasser Al-Khelaifi went on to represent Qatar in the Davis Cup before becoming president of the Qatar Tennis Federation in 2008 and chairman of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) in 2015.
In 2011, Al-Khelaifi was appointed chairman of Qatar Sports Investments (QSi), becoming chairman and CEO of Paris Saint-Germain with QSi’s purchase of the club. The following year, QSi acquired the Paris Handball Club, with judo and eSports soon joining under the Paris Saint-Germain banner in France’s capital city.
In addition to his activities in the sports industry, Al-Khelaifi became a board member of Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), in 2015. Al-Khelaifi is also chairman and CEO of the beIN Media Group, and chairs both Turkish media group Digiturk and LA-based film studios Miramax. He was appointed to the UEFA Executive Committee as a full member in his capacity as an ECA representative in February 2019.
