Martin began their career as a Staff Engineer at Kleinfelder, where they conducted geotechnical field exploration programs. Martin D. worked there from March 1999 to February 2000.

Prior to their engineering career, Martin served as an Engineering Technician/Geotechnical Engineering Intern at AGRA Earth and Environmental for a summer during their studies.

Their earliest work experience was as a Stock Boy at Barrett's Foodtown from June 1988 to September 1991.

Martin D. Jensen, PE, holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil Engineering - Geotechnical from Utah State University, which they obtained from 1997 to 1998. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering at Utah State University from 1991 to 1997. Martin also attained their high school Diploma from North Sevier High School in 1991. In terms of professional certifications, they are a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil Engineering in the states of California (obtained in 2011), Arizona (obtained in 2008), Nevada (obtained in 2002), and Utah (obtained in 2002).
