Carmen Barreira Nielsen

Carmen Barreira Nielsen, PhD. AuD., is a dedicated audiologist and academic with a wealth of experience in clinical and educational settings. Currently serving as a Clinical/Admin Support Specialist at SA since May 2022, Carmen focuses on newborn hearing screening and hearing tests. As an Associate Professor and Team Leader of the Cochlear Implant Team at Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo since August 2010, Carmen specializes in rehabilitative audiology, teleaudiology, and person-centered care. Previously, roles included leadership in e-health at Ebserh, postdoctoral research at the University of Ottawa, and clinical positions spanning multiple institutions including a cochlear implant program at Hospital for Rehabilitation of Craniofacial Anomalies. Carmen's academic credentials include a PhD in Audiology from Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo and extensive training at USP, and contributions to the Brazilian Society of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.
