Dr Dee Bird

Non Executive Board Member / Acting Chair at UHI Inverness

Dr Dee Bird serves as the Secretary General of the Scottish Episcopal Church since July 2024, overseeing the administrative support for the Church's legislative body and its dioceses. Since January 2022, Dr Bird has also held the position of Non Executive Board Member and Acting Chair at UHI Inverness, contributing to the governance of the largest college in the Highlands and Islands. Prior roles include serving as CEO of Edinburgh Napier Students' Association from October 2020 to June 2024, and holding various leadership positions at the Scottish Funding Council, including Assistant Director for Learning & Quality and Assistant Director for Outcomes. Dr Bird has a strong academic background, with a PhD in Literature and Theology and a Master of Philosophy with Distinction from the University of Glasgow, complemented by teaching experience at Queen Margaret University and the Higher Education Academy.
