Professor Of Biodiversity Conservation And Education at UHI Inverness

Melanie Smith is an accomplished academic and research leader currently serving as Research Director at Atlantic Salmon Trust since February 2023. In addition, Melanie holds the positions of Professor of Biodiversity Conservation and Education and Vice Principal - Academic and Research at UHI Inverness, roles held since April 2021. Previously, Melanie was the Director of Research and Innovation at Inverness College University of the Highlands and Islands from February 2019 to May 2022, where strategic leadership in research and development activities was provided. Earlier experience includes serving as Head of Research Development at Inverness College UHI from October 2006 to February 2019. Melanie's educational background includes earning a PhD in Holocene vegetation history and a BScHons in Biology and Geography from Royal Holloway, University of London.
