Kyoungjoo Kim

Kyoungjoo Kim is VP of Legal at UJET. Prior to joining UJET, they served as Senior Corporate Counsel at Trion Worlds, Inc. from May 2011 to May 2017. In this role, they oversaw the Legal Department for a $100M+, 300+ employee company and provided strategic business and legal counsel to the executive team. This included facilitating transactions and financing rounds, as well as drafting and negotiating B2B commercial contracts.

Kim has also been responsible for ensuring compliance with U.S. and international laws and regulations regarding privacy and intellectual property. Kyoungjoo has managed litigation matters and intellectual property portfolios through outside counsel, and has supported all departments including Finance, Business Development, Marketing, Platform, Product Development, CS, QA and HR. In addition, they have drafted and maintained B2C agreements including EULA’s, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policies.

Some of their other accomplishments include securing E&O, D&O, EPL, Commercial Liability and Workers Compensation insurance policies, resolving end-user issues, drafting and submitting Cease and Desist Letters, Demand Letters, DMCA $512 notifications, and maintaining privacy compliance (including managing adherence to US & EU standards). Kyoungjoo has also advised internal departments on US and EU standards for advertising, consumer protection, data protection, email marketing, and online privacy, including CAN-SPAM, COPPA, and EU directives.

In their role at Trion Worlds, Kim also reviewed creative and marketing assets for adherence to FTC guidelines and ESRB, PEGI, and USK advertising and labeling guidelines in accordance with game ratings. Kyoungjoo also administered promotional contests, sweepstakes and commercial co-ventures with charitable organizations, including preparation of official rules for contests and sweepstakes.

Kyoungjoo Kim earned a J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Davis.
