Christine Hellings is a highly experienced finance professional with expertise in various sectors. Christine'smost recent role was as the Head of Finance and Commercial at the UK Covid-19 Inquiry. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of Secretariat Government Shared Services at the Cabinet Office. Christine has also worked at the Government Internal Audit Agency as a Professional Assistant to the Head of Profession and as a Senior Auditor. Christine has a background in academia and worked at the University of South Wales as a Senior Lecturer and ICAEW Course Leader. Christine started their career as an Auditor at the Wales Audit Office and later worked as a Company Accountant at Keddie Saucemasters and as a Broking Accountant and Assistant Manager Insurance and Investments at Lloyds TSB Insurance.

Christine Hellings FCCA PGCertHE FHEA has a diverse education history. In 1989 to 1991, they attended the University of Wales Newport and obtained a HND degree in Business and Finance. Following this, from 2004 to 2007, they pursued a degree in Accountancy (ACCA) at the same university. In 2009 to 2010, they furthered their education at the University of South Wales, earning a Post Graduate Certificate in Developing Professional Practice in Higher Education with a focus on teaching. Currently, Christine is pursuing a Master of Philosophy (MPhil)/PhD degree in Corporate Governance and Audit at the University of Portsmouth, starting in 2011.

UK Covid-19 Inquiry

This is the independent public inquiry to examine the UK’s preparedness and response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and to learn lessons for the future. The Inquiry has been established under the Inquiries Act 2005. This means that the Chair will have the power to compel the production of documents and call witnesses to give evidence on oath.
