Umair Kayani has a diverse work experience in software engineering and development roles. Umair started their career as a Quality Assurance Tester at Scotiabank in 2009. Umair then worked as a Web Developer at GameTime in 2010. From 2011 to 2012, Umair served as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto, specializing in Software Engineering and Programming on the Web. In 2012, they joined Konrad Group as a Mobile Application Developer, where they developed native iOS applications under tight deadlines. Umair then worked at IBM Canada as a Software Developer, where they gained exposure to a large code base and contributed to the design and implementation of a major component within Cognos Disclosure Management application. In 2014, Umair joined LoyaltyOne as a Software Engineer, where they worked on various projects involving containerization, deployment automation, real-time transaction processing systems, and security solutions, among others. Umair also provided guidance to team members regarding software design and system architecture. Umair joined 500px in 2018 as a Senior Software Engineer and worked on software development projects until 2019. Currently, they work as a Software Engineer at Uken Games.

Umair Kayani completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) (Hons) degree in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. Umair attended the university from 2007 to 2012. In addition to their degree, they obtained a certification in Functional Programming Principles in Scala from Coursera Course Certificates in June 2016.
