Alex Kistner has a diverse work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. They began their career at Pacific BioLabs, Inc. as a Toxicology Intern, where they assisted in the development of in vitro bioassays and worked on GLP/cGMP and non-GLP/cGMP testing. They later became an Analyst 2 and Research Associate 1 at the company, where they managed study timelines and deliverables for bioassay testing and played a role in method development and validation.
In 2015, Alex joined Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc., where they held various roles. They started as a Toxicology Associate/Study Monitor 1, representing Pharmacology and Toxicology on translational research project teams. They then became a Study Monitor 2, responsible for managing in vivo and in vitro testing and assisting in the preparation of nonclinical summaries for regulatory filings. Later on, they served as a Study Manager and SEND Data Lead, supporting all stages of pharmaceutical development and representing Pharmacology and Toxicology on project teams.
Most recently, Alex served as a Senior Study Manager and Nonclinical Data Operations at Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc., before transitioning into their current role as an Associate Director of Nonclinical Data Management, Pharmacology & Toxicology. In this position, they oversee the lifecycle management of nonclinical data collection, management, analytics, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for nonclinical study data.
Prior to their career in the pharmaceutical industry, Alex worked as a Resident Advisor for the Environmental Connections Academic Theme Program at Student Housing - University of California, Davis. In this role, they facilitated the program, educated residents on environmental and sustainability topics, and mediated conflicts.

Alex Kistner obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Environmental Toxicology from the University of California, Davis, where they studied from 2005 to 2010. In 2020, Alex also received a certification as a CDISC Volunteer from CDISC.
