Debashree Basu

Debashree Basu is an accomplished molecular and cell biologist with extensive experience in gene therapy research and analytical development. Currently serving as Associate Director at Ultragenyx since February 2020, Debashree has previously held roles at Homology Medicines, Inc. and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where significant contributions included designing experiments for gene editing and developing assays for gene therapy evaluation. Prior to that, in various research capacities at The University of Texas Medical Branch, specialized in biochemical characterization of DNA polymerases and protein interactions, coupled with postdoctoral research on DNA polymerase functionalities. Academic credentials include a PhD in Biochemistry from Manipal Academy of Higher Education and an MSc in Chemistry with a focus on Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta.
