Jaime Arvizu, MD, MPH has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on medical affairs and leadership roles. Jaime is currently serving as the Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs for North America at Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical Inc. Prior to this role, they held the position of Vice President and Head of Medical Affairs for LATAM at Ultragenyx.

Before joining Ultragenyx, Dr. Arvizu worked at Baxalta as the Head of Intercontinental Region and Senior Medical Director/Vice President. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing all medical affairs operations in 34 emerging market countries, including Australia, New Zealand, the LATAM region, China, India, Russia, Turkey, and APAC region. Jaime successfully established Baxalta's medical affairs scientific and market leadership for the hemophilia and Immunodeficiency franchise in key countries.

Dr. Arvizu also has experience at Baxter BioScience as the Regional Medical Director and Head of Latin America and Canada, and at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals as the Vice President of GMA Latin America. In these roles, they strengthened the medical affairs role across the regions and implemented effective solutions to enhance the performance of medical activities.

Prior to their roles in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Arvizu worked at RxER Communications, Inc as the Chief Medical Officer, providing medical communications solutions to clients in the pharmaceutical industry and health insurance field. Jaime also served as a Clinical Research Physician and Director of Medical Affairs for the respiratory franchise at IVAX, and as a Medical Director and Compliance Officer at GlaxoSmithKline.

Dr. Arvizu began their career at Glaxo Wellcome, where they held various roles including Associate Manager of Medical Marketing and Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. Jaime played a key role in integrating the medical and marketing functions to bolster sales and secure new accounts.

Dr. Jaime Arvizu obtained their MD degree in Medicine from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, completing their studies from 1979 to 1988. Jaime later pursued a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology from the School of Public Health, Medical Science Campus in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which they completed from 1997 to 1999.
