Bilal Butt

Bilal Butt is an Associate Professor at the University of Michigan, where employment began in August 2011, following a role as an Assistant Professor. Additionally, Bilal serves as a Research Associate and Affiliate with the Department of Community, Environment and Sustainability at Kenyatta University since August 2015. Prior experience includes an instructorship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in early 2011, a Graduate Fellowship at the International Livestock Research Institute from May 2005 to December 2007, and a Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantship at Michigan State University from August 2000 to December 2007. Bilal's education includes a Postdoctoral Research Associate degree in Geography and GIS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2011), an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Geography (2010), a PhD in Geography with a focus on ethics and development from Michigan State University (2007), and a Master of Arts in Geography from Michigan State University (2002).
