Santa J. Ono

Santa J. Ono serves as the President of the University of Michigan since October 2022, leading a top-ranked public research university. Previously held multiple prestigious roles at the University of British Columbia, including Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science, as well as 15th President & Vice-Chancellor. Santa J. Ono's academic career encompasses key appointments at the University of Cincinnati, Emory University, University College London, Harvard University, and Johns Hopkins University, with a strong focus on immunology, inflammation, and ophthalmology research. Educational background includes a PhD in Experimental Medicine from McGill University and a BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Chicago. Additionally, served as Honorary Consul of Japan for Ohio from 2013 to 2016.
