Coleen Carranza is an experienced professional with a strong background in earth sciences, risk reduction, and environmental management. Currently serving as an Associate Programme Officer at the UN Convention to Combat Desertification since June 2023, Coleen previously worked as a Data Analyst (Consultant) at the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction from October 2022 to May 2023. Coleen held the position of Postdoctoral Researcher at Wageningen University & Research from December 2020 to February 2022, following a PhD role at the same institution specializing in Soil Physics from November 2015 to January 2021. Additional academic experience includes serving as a Senior Lecturer (part-time) at the University of the Philippines Diliman and as an instructor teaching undergraduate geology courses. Coleen's early career included a position as a Geologist at Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation and participation in the Phil-LiDAR 2 project focusing on agricultural resources mapping. Coleen holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology, a Master of Science in Applied Earth Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Soil Physics.
