This role will be based in Scotland around the Edinburgh area.

About the role

As the company’s Agronomist, you will work on the Science, Research and Innovation team to support our understanding of the agricultural benefits of our operations. You will be responsible for taking the outcomes and insights from research on enhanced weathering and turning it into actionable insights for our operational and commercial teams to take forward. This will include: refining our position with regards to the co-benefits of basalt on crop productivity; developing our relationship with the agricultural industry; undertaking field analysis on agricultural sites; and, informing our marketing and positioning with farmers and landowners. This role will straddle both science and operations, bringing an industry perspective to our research efforts.

What will you do

  • Design and conduct field trials to quantify the agronomic co-benefits of enhanced weathering to agriculture, including crop yield and quality, pest resistance, soil health and management of soil pH.

  • Manage a field trials programme liasing with external trials contractors, research partners and other organisations.

  • Refine pitch with farmers on productivity effects of enhanced weathering.

  • Lead our partnerships with landowners and research institutions working in this field.

  • Support our understanding of how agricultural practice and crop varieties affect weathering rate.

  • Support development of communications materials around enhanced weathering to secure sales and partnerships.

About you

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent in Agronomy, Crop Sciences, Soil Sciences or a relevant discipline

  • Experience working as Agronomist for farm or agricultural organisation

  • Proven track record of innovation in the field of agronomy, agriculture and soil productivity

  • A deep understanding of regenerative land management, the upside and potential risks

  • Ability to operate independently as well as work effectively on a diverse team

Desirable:
