Nicolas Bertrand currently serves as Chief of Staff and Senior Adviser to the Executive Director at the UN Environment Programme, a position held since November 2019. Prior to this role, Nicolas Bertrand was Chief of Staff at IUCN from May 2015 to October 2019, where responsibilities included acting as the Head of Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Risk Management and serving as Special Adviser to the Director General. Nicolas Bertrand's earlier experience at UNEP from March 2009 to April 2015 as an Economic Affairs Officer involved coordinating the Green Economy Report and managing the TEEB Network. Previous positions include Programme Officer for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity and Business and Biodiversity at IUCN. Nicolas Bertrand holds multiple degrees, including an MSc in Economics and Natural Resource Management from UCL and an MPhil from Ecole nationale du Génie rural, des Eaux et des Forêts, alongside various other qualifications in environmental management and accounting.
