Catarina Carvalho

Catarina Carvalho is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in advocating for human rights, gender equality, and health issues at international levels. Currently serving as the Chief of Department at UN Women since March 2023, Catarina has held prominent roles such as United Nations Representative for the International Planned Parenthood Federation since October 2016, where responsibilities include representing IPPF in high-level meetings related to health and rights. Previously, Catarina worked as a Senior Policy Advisor at the High-Level Task Force ICPD Secretariat and as a Senior Adviser for the EU Delegation in New York, engaging in critical negotiations on gender and social development issues. With a strong educational background in Political and Social Sciences, Catarina has dedicated over two decades to influencing policies through various UN missions and has a notable history of shaping national positions on gender-related resolutions.
