Dr. Harshita Umesh

Dr. Harshita Umesh is a prominent figure in youth advocacy and public health, currently serving as a Young Feminist Leader with UN Women India since November 2024 and as a Youth Advisor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine since June 2024. Dr. Umesh is a member of the Asia Pacific Team of the Global Youth Humanitarian Platform and holds various leadership roles within YOUNGO, including Internal Lead for the Health Working Group. Additionally, Dr. Umesh serves as a Board Advisor for the Oath for Sustainability Network and is an Advisory Board Member for the Indian Academy of Geriatrics - Student Chapter. Previous experience includes leading the Mental Health Team at PathCheck Foundation and holding the position of Head of Academics and Research at the Indian Medical Association. Dr. Umesh was recognized as a Youth Policy Champion by UNICEF for contributions to sexual and reproductive health and rights in India. Academic qualifications include multiple degrees in French Language and Literature from Bangalore Central University and early education from Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute among other institutions.
