Samantha Cooperstein

Samantha Cooperstein, MHA, currently serves as the Director of the Department of Surgery at UNC Health since March 2023. Previously, Samantha held the position of Senior Program Manager in the Strategic Initiatives Office at WellSense Health Plan from July 2022 to February 2023. Prior experience includes roles as Program Manager and Manager of Professional Affairs in the Department of Surgery at Northwestern Medicine from May 2017 to July 2022, and Coordinator of Operations & Planning for the Kennedy Initiative for Transforming Care at Emory Healthcare from June 2016 to April 2017. Samantha’s career commenced at UNC Health Care as an Operations & Data Analyst in the Department of Family Medicine from May 2015 to May 2016, and earlier experience includes work as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Penn State University and an intern at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Samantha holds a Master's degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health from Penn State University, supplemented by a Business certificate from Villanova University.
