Zafar Hayat Malik is a seasoned education and development professional with extensive experience in leading education initiatives, strategic coordination, and local governance reforms across various sectors. Currently serving as the National Program Officer and Head of Education at UNESCO since February 2014, Zafar facilitates the integration of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG-4) agenda in education plans, manages partnerships, and coordinates inter-agency working groups. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Coordination Officer at the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, Chief Executive Officer at the Devolution Trust for Community Empowerment, and National Project Manager for UNDP Pakistan. Zafar holds a Master of Arts in Development Economics from the University of Leeds and a degree in Strategic Management from Harvard Kennedy School.
