John Purcell

John Purcell has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. John currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer at Unfold since August 2022. Prior to this, they held the positions of CEO and President at Unfold from July 2020 to July 2022.

Before joining Unfold, John worked at Bayer as the Head of Vegetables R&D, Crop Science, and Senior Vice President from August 2018 to July 2020.

Prior to Bayer, they held various roles at Monsanto Company, starting from July 1989 until August 2018. John'smost recent role at Monsanto was Vice President, Global R&D Lead, Monsanto Vegetables, from June 2016 to August 2018. John also held different roles in Monsanto Technology and Commercial Organizations during their tenure.

John began their career at USDA as a Postdoctoral Researcher from July 1987 to June 1989.

John Purcell received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from Washington and Lee University from 1977 to 1981. John then went on to obtain their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Molecular and Cellular Biology with an Emphasis in Insect Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 1982 to 1987.
