Diana Vakarelska has extensive experience in governance, policy development, and program management, primarily with UNICEF since December 2006, currently serving as Country Coordinator for the UNICEF Refugee Response Office in Poland. Previous roles at UNICEF include Policy Specialist for Local Governance and Movements at UNICEF HQ, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist in the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, and Local Governance Specialist managing the Joint Programme for Local Governance in Somalia. Prior to her tenure at UNICEF, Diana Vakarelska worked with the Know How Fund as a Programme Specialist focusing on decentralization strategies for child welfare, and with the Department for International Development (DFID) as an Advisor to the Minister of Public Administration in Bulgaria, where Diana co-authored the first White Paper on Public Administration Reform.
