UNICEF Spokesperson

James Elder is the Spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), responsible for addressing humanitarian crises affecting children globally. Since 2021, they have embarked on multiple missions to Ukraine and the Horn of Africa, while previously serving as Regional Chief of Communication for Eastern and Southern Africa for seven years. James began their UNICEF career in Angola in 2002 and has extensive experience in emergency communications across several conflict zones, including Sri Lanka during its civil war. They hold a Master's degree in Communication and Media Studies and have worked as a journalist in Australia, contributing to notable publications. James is married and has three children.
