Joanis Holzigel

Joanis Holzigel is a seasoned professional in renewable energy and operational management, currently serving as a Renewable Energy Consultant at UNICEF since December 2023. With extensive experience in the renewable energy sector, Joanis has held various leadership roles, including Chief Operating Officer and Mini-Grid Expert at Inensus GmbH since November 2018, and Chief Operating Officer at Rafiki Power from January 2016 to October 2018, where operational oversight of mini-grid development across multiple Sub-Saharan African countries was achieved. Key accomplishments include securing a $1M contract with Tanzania's Rural Energy Agency and growing Rafiki Power into the largest mini-grid developer in Sub-Saharan Africa. Earlier roles include Country Manager and Business Development Manager at BBOXX and a Voluntary Social Year at Mount Barker Waldorf School. Joanis holds a Master of Philosophy in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Imperial College London.
