Derek Jordan

Derek Jordan has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Derek began their career at Best Buy in 2007 as a Media Specialist, where they honed their communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. In 2010, they worked as a Material Handler at Fluorecycle and as an Infusion Pump Technician at Strategic Applications Inc.

From 2011 to 2012, Derek served as an IT Consultant at Covewireless, providing assistance to customers during their transition to an IP phone system. Derek also worked as Kern Center Staff at the Milwaukee School of Engineering during this time.

In 2013, Derek joined Dematic as an Electrical Controls Intern, gaining experience in ladder logic development, VFD commissioning, and conveyor system emulation. Derek later became a Controls Engineer 2, designing and commissioning integrated conveyor systems for notable clients like Amazon.com, Grainger, and FedEx.

From 2016 to 2018, Derek worked at Woodway USA as an Electrical Engineer, focusing on PCB design, firmware development, and native Windows application development.

Currently, Derek is employed at Unified Information Devices. Derek started as a Software Product Manager in 2018 and was later promoted to the role of Software Engineering Manager. In this position, they led a team in building native Windows applications, aligned business value with development, and served as the primary technical contact for customer infrastructure and system requirements.

In 2022, Derek transitioned to their current role as a Software/Electrical Engineering Manager at Unified Information Devices. Derek now manages and leads the development of software and electrical products, collaborates with stakeholders on project planning and execution, and maintains a close relationship with manufacturing for quality control.

Throughout their career, Derek has demonstrated a strong technical aptitude and a collaborative approach to project management.

Derek Jordan obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering between 2010 and 2014. In 2012, they also attended the Czech Technical University in Prague for a brief period, where they studied at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The degree obtained during this time was not specified.
