James Sutton

Lead ML Engineer at Union.ai

James Sutton has a diverse work experience, starting as a Sales Associate at Canadian Tire from 2007 to 2011. James then transitioned into engineering roles, working as a Mechanical Engineer at SureShot Solutions from November 2014 to May 2015. Following that, they worked as a Materials Engineering Researcher at Dalhousie University from May 2012 to March 2014, focusing on the development and testing of carbon foam.

In 2015, James joined ebo Innovations as a Data Scientist and Engineer, where they collaborated with the CEO and web UI development team. Their responsibilities included breaking down projects into milestones, designing an internal rest service, and implementing product recommendation systems using sparse inputs.

James then founded Condense AI Consulting Services in July 2018, where they served as Founder until October 2020. During this time, they provided consulting services in the field of AI.

In February 2020, they joined B-Line as a Technical Advisor until October 2020. In this role, they provided technical guidance and advice.

James worked at Algorithmia from July 2016 to September 2022. James held various roles, starting as a Machine Learning Engineer from January 2016 to February 2018, then transitioning to a Senior Machine Learning Engineer from February 2018 to June 2020. James was promoted to the position of Machine Learning Engineer, Lead from June 2020 to March 2021. Finally, from March 2021 to August 2021, they served as an ML Solutions Architect, contributing to the development of machine learning solutions.

From August 2021 to September 2022, James worked as a Principal ML Engineer at DataRobot, where they applied their expertise in machine learning.

Most recently, James has taken up the role of Lead ML Engineer at Union.ai, starting in February 2023.

James Sutton completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Dalhousie University, where they attended from 2009 to 2014.
