Victor Derting has over two decades of law enforcement experience with the City of Union City, serving in various roles from Police Officer to Deputy Chief since May 1999. Derting's extensive experience includes positions such as Police Captain with responsibilities as Support Services Commander and Field Operations Commander, and Police Lieutenant overseeing Patrol and Support Services. Before rising through the ranks, Derting held roles as a Police Sergeant, Corporal, Gang Detective, and Detective focused on major and person crimes, including homicide investigations. Prior to law enforcement, Derting served in the US Army from September 1994 to September 1998 as a US Army Ranger and Team Leader. Derting holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Union Institute & University and has completed the Senior Management Institute for Police.
