Midwest Senior Policy Manager, Climate & Energy Program at Union Of Concerned Scientists

James Gignac is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in climate and energy policy. Currently serving as the Midwest Senior Policy Manager for the Climate & Energy Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists since March 2018, James leads efforts to shape clean energy policies in the Midwest. Previously, James held roles as Senior Midwest Energy Analyst and Lead Midwest Energy Analyst, focusing on renewable energy research and legislative analysis. Before joining the Union of Concerned Scientists, James worked as Environmental and Energy Counsel to the Illinois Attorney General, managing regulatory and legislative matters. Additionally, James directed the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal Campaign, promoting cleaner energy solutions, and gained legal experience as an Associate at Mayer Brown LLP, as well as a Law Clerk for the Alaska Supreme Court. James holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in History and Political Science from Albion College.
