Rich Hayes has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Rich started their career in 1991 as a reporter and special assistant for the US Congress/Legislative Service Organization. In 1993, they joined the Union of Concerned Scientists as a press secretary and later served as a media director from 1997 to 2006. Rich then took on multiple leadership roles within the organization, including creative director, marketing director, and department director. Additionally, they worked as a freelance reporter for The Tennessean from 2012 to 2014. Rich Hayes has also been actively involved in various community organizations, serving as a board member for Southern Word from 2008 to 2015 and for Urban Green Lab from 2009 to 2015, where they played a key role in creating and funding sustainable living initiatives.
Rich Hayes earned a Bachelor's degree in Communications from American University.
