Mike Bean

Principal optical engineer at Uniphy

Mike Bean began their work experience in 1987 as a Scientific Officer at the Royal Armanent R&D Establishment, gaining a broad understanding of electro-optics and laser technologies. Mike then joined Kodak as a Senior Scientist in 1991, where they designed a pH sensor for monitoring mini-lab developing solution before transitioning to an Ion Measurement team. In 1997, they became a Senior Optics Engineer at Fujifilm Electronic Imaging, where they designed and tested optics for a high-speed, automatic platesetter. Mike then joined Bookham Technology in 2000 as a Senior Industrial Engineer, leading a team in transferring a product to production and improving yields. From 2001 to 2008, they worked at Carclo Technical Plastics Ltd as a Senior Optical Engineer, developing product families using TIR optics for LED lighting applications. From 2008 to 2017, they served as the Head of Design at Carclo Technical Plastics, managing the design team and working on various illumination applications. Currently, since 2017, Mike Bean is a Principal Optical Engineer at Uniphy Ltd, contributing their expertise in optics and injection-moulded plastics to refine and expand touch-screen technology capabilities.
