Austin Mabrey is an electro-mechanical engineer at UES. He received a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering in 2017 from The University of Texas at Austin. Austin became an intern with UES during his undergraduate studies in fall 2016 and has since greatly assisted in the design and build of numerous electric and hybrid electric conversion packages for medium-duty delivery vehicles. Austin has an intuitive sense for mechanical systems that sprouted from a continued childhood passion for rebuilding vintage cars and motorcycles. Austin took his passion and turned it into a career; he pushes himself beyond the mechanical systems and has spearheaded electrical tasks such as integrating OEM wiring harnesses with the newly developed vehicle system’s harness. Austin is an integral, hands-on member of the UES product-development team — he leads prototype assembly in the shop, creates the needed CAD and written documentation for manufacturing and deployment, and provides valuable feedback to the team, which he helps incorporate into the vehicle designs.
