Michele Maroni

Michele Maroni has a diverse work experience spanning various fields.

In 2015, Maroni worked as a volunteer tester and intern at Elements SRL. Following this, in 2016, they served as a volunteer research and teaching assistant at the University of Bologna, where they mentored students and evaluated the expression of pain-related ion channels.

In 2014, Maroni completed a research internship for their Master's degree at Universitá di Bologna.

From 2016 to 2019, Maroni worked as a PhD researcher at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, conducting patch clamp electrophysiology and structural bioinformatics research on voltage-gated sodium channels.

In 2018, they also worked as a visiting PhD researcher at RTWH Aachen.

In 2019, Maroni joined the European Commission as a Bioinformatics Analyst responsible for bioinformatics analysis and knowledge management support.

In 2020, while still working at the European Commission, Maroni also served as an Information Technology Consultant at ARHS Developments Italia.

Michele Maroni has a diverse education history. They obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences from Università degli studi Roma TRE from 2008 to 2012. They then pursued a Master's Degree in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna from 2012 to 2013. Following this, Michele completed another Master's Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna from 2013 to 2015.

In 2014, they attended a course on the Physics of Functional Materials at Aalto University. Michele then enrolled in the Microsoft Professional Program in Data Science at edX from 2017 to 2019, focusing on Data Science and Machine Learning. Later, they pursued a PhD in Neurobiology and Neurosciences at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg from 2016 to 2024.

In addition to their formal education, Michele also obtained several certifications. Notably, they completed courses such as Learning Docker from LinkedIn, the Programming Foundations: Object-Oriented Design from LinkedIn, and Introduction to a Web of Linked Data from France Université Numérique.
