Esra Alwan is an experienced professional in plant breeding and agriculture technology, currently serving as a Fresh Market Tomato Breeder at United Genetics Seeds Co. since September 2021. In addition to this role, Esra has been an Adjunct Agriculture Business Technology Instructor at Hartnell College since January 2020. Previous experience includes a position as Junior Plant Breeder for leafy vegetables at MISSION RANCHES COMPANY, LLC from June to October 2021, and a role as a Research Scientist in Marker Assisted Breeding at Bayer Crop Science from November 2017 to July 2018. Esra earned a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Washington State University, where tenure spanned from November 2013 to November 2018, following a Master’s degree in wheat breeding and genetics obtained at ICARDA. Early research experience includes a position as a Research Assistant at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas from 2008 to 2010.
