David MacDonald currently serves as Chairperson of the Expert Group on Resource Management at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, a position held since May 2012, leading initiatives aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda to promote sustainable resource development. Prior to this role, MacDonald spent over 37 years at BP, where responsibilities included serving as Vice President of Reserves, overseeing the governance of significant proved reserves and discovered resources, as well as functioning as Reserves Manager and Reservoir Engineer. MacDonald holds a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, earned between 1981 and 1984.
