Samar Khamis is a seasoned Human Rights Officer at the United Nations Human Rights since August 2011, specializing in countering terrorism, human rights, and democratic governance. Previously, Samar served as Deputy Representative at the OHCHR Tunisia country office and worked in the Human Rights Treaties Branch as a Human Rights Expert. As a self-employed researcher, insights into women's roles during the Arab Spring were provided, focusing on their involvement and violations faced. Consultative experience includes work with the Badil Resource Center, legal research at the Geneva Academy, and coordination for the Centre for Civil and Political Rights. Early career includes law practice, legal advising, and project coordination for NGOs. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law from the University of Geneva and a Bachelor's degree in Law from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
