Todd Howland is an experienced human rights professional currently serving as the Chief of Branch for Development, Economic, and Social Rights at the United Nations Human Rights since 2011. Previously held roles include Principal Officer in the Research and Right to Development Division and representative in various capacities. Between 2008 and 2010, Todd Howland directed the UN Joint Human Rights Office in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Academic contributions include a position as Professor of Human Rights Law at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in 2008. As Co-Founder and Director of Global Programs at International Rights Advocates and Director at the RFK Center for Human Rights, Todd Howland played key roles in promoting human rights initiatives. Additional experience includes serving as Officer-in-Charge of the Human Rights Division at the United Nations Office in Angola and a Visiting Fellow at Harvard Law School. Todd Howland's legal expertise was further demonstrated as an International Legal Adviser for The Carter Center and as a Directing Attorney for El Rescate. Education was attained at the University of Denver from 1982 to 1986.
