Dr. Alexandra de Sousa has extensive experience in public health and social policy, currently serving as Section Chief and Deputy Head of Office at the United Nations OCHA since 2015. Previously, Dr. de Sousa held key roles at UNICEF from 2012 to 2014 as Chief of Social Policy and Child Protection, and worked with the World Health Organization from 2010 to 2012 as a Doctor and Scientist. Dr. de Sousa's earlier positions include Operational Research Coordinator and Medical Officer at UNICEF from 2005 to 2010, and Associate Researcher at Rockefeller University from 2000 to 2005. Dr. de Sousa holds multiple advanced degrees, including a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Institut Pasteur, a Masters in Social Anthropology from EHESS, a Masters in Media and Communication from The New School, an MPH in International Public Health from Univ Pierre et Marie Curie, and a medical degree from Universidad de Salamanca.
