Samantha Newport is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in humanitarian communications and advocacy, currently serving as the Deputy Chief of the IASC Secretariat at the United Nations OCHA since August 2015. In this role, Samantha leads initiatives to mobilize and coordinate humanitarian actions while promoting preparedness and sustainable solutions. Prior to OCHA, Samantha held key positions such as Global Communications Advisor for the UNDP's Green Commodities Programme and Communications and Resource Mobilisation Advisor at the UN Environment Programme. Additional experience includes strategic communication roles with UN Peacekeeping and managing the Africa Conservation Fund in collaboration with the Congolese Wildlife Authority. Samantha holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) degree from Swansea University, specializing in Business, French, and Spanish.
