Maher Nasser has extensive experience with the United Nations, serving in various high-level roles since January 2006. Currently, Maher Nasser holds the position of Commissioner-General of the United Nations at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, and previously served as Commissioner-General for Expo 2020 in Dubai. Maher Nasser has also acted as Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications and led the Outreach Division within the Department of Public Information. Earlier roles include directing the UN Information Service in Vienna and the UN Information Centre in Cairo. Academically, Maher Nasser earned a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Bir Zeit University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Warwick. Additionally, Maher Nasser received honorary doctorates from De Montfort University.
