Derek Henderson, CGFM has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Derek served as the Director of Finance at the U.S. International Trade Commission since 2016. Prior to that, they were the Managing Member of Henderson Accounting and Tax Service LLC since 2010. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as the Director of Accounting & Financial Management Operations at the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Before that, they were the Section Chief of Government Services at the Administrative Office of The United States Courts from 2011 to 2014. Derek also held the position of Senior Accountant in Financial Analyses and Policy at the Millennium Challenge Corporation from 2007 to 2011. Derek began their career as a Senior Consultant at CGI from 2004 to 2007.

Derek Henderson, CGFM, holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in Finance and Financial Management Services from Norwich University, which they completed from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Legal Studies, General from Temple University, graduating from 1993 to 1997.

In addition to their formal education, Derek Henderson has obtained various certifications throughout their career. Derek obtained the Certified Government Financial Manager certification from the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) in July 2011. Furthermore, they hold the Certified Internal Control Auditor certification from the Institute for Internal Controls, which they obtained in March 2011. Most recently, Derek obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in March 2022.
